Is this just a smaller font size?

No. The generator uses copyable Unicode characters where Unicode defines a corresponding small, raised, or lowered form. It does not shrink text with CSS.

Why does X stay unchanged in small caps?

Unicode has no dedicated Latin small-cap X in this mapping, so the generator leaves it unchanged instead of substituting a lookalike.

Do raised and lowered text support every letter?

No. Those styles use the same Unicode superscript and subscript coverage as the dedicated generators, including their missing-letter limits.
